Leonard T. D’Amico
Born and raised in Astoria, Queens. He completed his entire education at all Queen’s schools. Has lived in Queens all his life and has owned and operated his business here in Queens for the last 23 years. Even though his office moved to a larger space in Nassau County, Len considers himself truly dedicated to the Borough of Queens and supports those whose efforts are focused on improving the quality of life of Queens Residents.
He started his professional career working on Optical Laser Systems and Micro Computers in the mid-seventies for Eastman Kodak. During this time Len attended Queensborough Community College, at night, where he received his AS degree in Business Administration. He continued to St. John’s University where he received his BS in Finance.
In 1984 Len left Kodak and started his own Real Estate firm. Leading up to his departure while he was working full time at Kodak and attending university at night, Len was working weekends towards obtaining his RE license. He then developed knowledge of LP Partnerships and Coop conversions and how to manage distressed properties. Moving forward into Real Estate Development Len is now working on projects that he finds most rewarding, developing affordable independent living facilities for seniors. The main beneficiary of one of his current senior projects is the Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens. Now a principal in The D & F Development Group, LLC with his partner, Peter Florey, Len is developing and building several projects in the Metropolitan area specifically for the benefit of local charitable organizations and those seniors who’s income are at the lower end of the scale.
After years of pursuing his career in business, Len was ready to commit more time to the community. He involved himself in many political, educational, cultural, civic and charitable causes. He has volunteered to work on a couple of the Queens Borough President’s Task Forces: Fresh Kills Closure and Illegal Conversion and being appointed in 1998 to the Queens Borough Public Library Board of Trustees, where he serves as President. He has also became Vice President on the Board of Directors for Queens Centers for Progress, formerly Queens Cerebral Palsy and is a member of the Board of Directors of Queens Economic Development Corp.
